PAINT ON THE MOUNTAIN 2022 Plein Air Competition West Vancouver Call for Artists
It’s back! British Pacific Properties is once again hosting its annual PAINT ON THE MOUNTAIN competition this July 30th –31st , 2022.

This year’s competition will begin on Saturday July 30th, 2022 with artists tasked to produce two pieces of artwork en plein air in two days, or less, on Hollyburn Mountain (same location as previous years).
Completed artwork must be framed and delivered no later than 3pm on Sunday July 31st (for those who wish, artwork can be submitted Saturday, July 30th at 6pm.) Opportunities for digital and physical exhibition will be available, with the option for artists to price and sell their artwork should they wish. Additional details will be provided to participating artists.
Jurors will award three cash prizes totalling $2,500, with an additional prize awarded to The Peoples Choice.
Registration:
This is a Call for Artists to submit their interest and artwork digitally to participate in this year’s annual competition. Twelve (12) successful entries will be selected by Jury to participate in painting nature and viewscapes en plein air on the serene mountainside of Hollyburn Mountain (off Cypress Bowl Road), with the opportunity to win up to $1,500 (grand prize) in prize money.
Format Update: The Grand Prize winner from the previous year will not be eligible to compete for 12 months.
There is no entry fee to participate in the challenge this year.
Artists requirements for the Call:
- Artists must submit two plein air pieces completed in the last 12 months, submitted at a minimum resolution of 72 DPI;
- Artists must include a CV/biography; and,
- Entries must be submitted on or before July 3rd, 2022, to info@cypressvillage.com
The twelve successful artists will be announced on July 6th, 2022.
